An exciting opportunity for Qualified Teachers of Vision Impairment (VI) or Qualified Teachers of Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI) working within Local Authority Services or Special Schools.

Award winning Positive Looking is used across the UK in special schools and Services. It is also now being piloted in the first school in Kentucky with a view to it’s use being promoted across other schools in the USA.

Positive Eye has been asked many times to develop a Positive Looking Train the Trainer course and therefore in response to this request we have done just this.

The Positive Looking Train the Trainer course

The Positive Looking Train the Trainer course is open to QTVI’s or QTMSI’s working within Local Authority Services or Special Schools. Initially you will attend a two day course in July 2020 and then both during the course and afterwards complete a workbook and some practical tasks to help you to prepare to deliver the Positive Looking Practitioner course.

Whilst on the Positive Looking Train the Trainer course you will learn how to be a trainer of Positive Looking and also learn how to deliver the Positive Looking Practitioner course.

Once you have successfully completed your course and your workbook has been marked you will receive a Certificate of Recognition and become a Registered Positive Looking Trainer entitling you to deliver the Positive Looking Practitioner course.

The Positive Looking Practitioner course

This is a two day course aimed at teachers and teaching assistants working in special schools and early years settings. This is the course that you will deliver, initially during the pilot to two practitioners to test the materials. The Positive Looking Practitioners will complete a workbook and some practical activities and you will mark their workbooks and provide formative feedback in their learner’s log during the weeks following the two day course. On successful completion of the course Practitioners will receive a Certificate of Recognition and become a registered Positive Looking Practitioner. Once the courses are piloted and a final version has been produced by Positive Eye May – June 2021 you will be able to train as many Practitioners across your school or LA as you see fit. This means you will be able to set a standard and develop consistent approaches to using Positive Looking.

Cost: Pilot course – £400 per trainer (discount of £100 for pilot trainers) + £75 per practitioners taking the Positive Looking Practitioner course

Total payment: £550

Bi-annual registration fee for Positive Looking Trainers: £100.00
